Mark Smith-Soto

Mark Smith-Soto is a Costa Rican-American poet, playwright and teacher (UNC-Greensboro). Featured in journals such as Literary Review, Kenyon Review, Carolina Quarterly, and Nimrod, he won publication awards from the North Carolina Writers Network for his two poetry chapbooks, Green Mango Collage and Shafts. His full-length collection, Our Lives are Rivers, was published by University Press of Florida in 2003. Two of his ten minute plays (one comic, one serious) have been produced under the auspices of the Greensboro Playwrights' Forum, and another written in verse (“Deal With This: Trio from the Holocaust Museum”) was selected to be produced in July, 2003, by Theater Orange of the Arts Center of Chapel Hill/Carrboro as part of their “10x10” annual summer festival.
