Judy Simpson Cook has written nine full-length plays: Country
Songs, which premiered to packed houses at the 1986 Piccolo Spoleto in
Charleston, S.C.; Earline, a 1986 Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre
premier; Sweepstakes, commissioned and produced in 1986 by her Alma
Mater, Presbyterian College; Nuptials,
winner of the 1989 Thompson Theater Award from North Carolina State University and
in 1992 had its professional premier at the Flat Rock Playhouse; Retrieving
the Lamb, a Christmas play premiered in 1991 by Charlotte Shakespeare
Company; Cerulean Blues, a comedy first produced in April 1996; Benedictions, premiered by
Charlotte Repertory Theatre in 2001; and 1963, to be produced in 2003 by Bare
Bones Theatre in Charlotte.
Her one-act plays include A Novel Romance, commissioned
by the prestigious Actors' Theatre of Louisville, and The Aurellia Women's
League Flower and Garden Gala Planning Committee, and After A Fashion.
She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, the North Caroline
Writers' Network, and the North Carolina Playwrights Alliance.
