In high school, John Paul Middlesworth won a playwriting contest sponsored by the Statesville Little Theater, giving him an unending urge to write plays.  He wrote (with Neal Scroggs) "Where the Hell's Harry?" for SLT's 1993 season.  His one-act comedy, "Holed Up," after debuting at UNC, has seen productions as far away as India and Japan.  He and his family live in Chapel Hill, where he teaches, and acts and directs when the opportunities arise.
