David Blakely received his MFA from the Iowa Playwright's Workshop. His plays have been produced in Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and North Carolina. His play, Tales of Shoogilly was the 2003 winner of the Charles M. Getchell Award. His play, Laying Felt, was voted "Best of the NeST"in Mockingbird Theatre's 2003 New Southern Theatre Festival. He is an actor, director, and member of the Celtic band, Wild Rumpus. He teaches at NC Wesleyan College.
